Street art is a term used to describe art created on the street by artists. 49 Pieces of Street Art was an investigation into what happens when you give the street a canvas. It was an exploration of the incidental — an attempt to anthropomorphise the street and elevate the graphic expressions and textures we often ignore.

I placed 49 blank posters around Hastings and St Leonards and presented the responses in an exhibition. The street returned instances of mark-making, collage, texture, and rejection. It expressed the geography, the changing urban environment, and the socio-economics of the area — all of which are common expressions of an artist.
