About

Jack Fang is a Hastings-based graphic artist and filmmaker. His journey into visual communication began in 2018 while working as a barber, where he started making short films about his clients — small business owners working in a variety of unique and niche fields. This early work sparked a lasting interest in documentary storytelling and the idea of intrinsic motivation.

Jack went on to earn a First Class Honours degree in Visual Communication: Graphic Design at Hastings University Centre. During his studies, he developed a strong interest in experimental documentary and conceptual art. His final major project received the Head of Higher Education Award for its originality and execution.

Today, Jack’s practice spans design, fine art and filmmaking, often exploring themes of process, observation, and overlooked narratives.
